If you want to see the concept and the language in a novel, check out Charles Stross’ ACCELERANDO. It’s well-done, but difficult to read novel, due to a surfeit of technospeak, all connected to computer communications and the “Singularity”. I don’t buy the idea that human consciousness will eventually converge with AI’s and create a whole new species of human either, but it’s a cool concept and makes for a fun read.
