To have one of my favorite authors defending another of my favorite authors damn near brings tears to my eyes. Anne Lamott is a treasure. She is worth it.

I question my faith all the time (but probably not enough, or I would be a better person than I am.) If I can’t hear an argument with what I believe for fear of losing that belief, then I must not have a very firm grasp on my belief.

Dear Marc,

My article was written and submitted before the Omaha World-Herald published the follow-on article about Creighton re-evaluating its guidelines on inviting speakers to campus. The quoted comments you see above came (if memory serves) from the original article in the Omaha World-Herald and were comments of a group of doctors who wrote in protesting Creighton’s choice of Anne Lamott for a speaker.

I am not a reporter. I wrote an opinion piece in response to an article I saw in the local paper. Unfortunately, I can’t access any of the articles on the Omaha World-Herald site that go back more than seven days.

If you have the text of the response by Creighton’s president, please post it here, so we can all read it.

Please site the source of what you described as “the official story” as this is not the story that was put out by Creighton’s President.

An excellent vision of what a religious education should (and should not) do. Kudos for standing up so eloquently for Lamott.
