It is so comforting to read the truth & see it portrayed in dvd. I like the way you use fiction humor to educate & inform. I have been trying to get your other books at the library. I used to be a nurse & I know all about gomers etc. Now that I am 64 I am doing all that I can so that I don't become one, such as DNR, staying away from doctors, no health insurance & not calling 911. Where is a novel like yours & Samuel Shem's pertaining to nursing? I read Critical Care & saw the movie.

Perhaps you and Peter Singer should get together, and we could eliminate the unwanted at both ends of life. BTW, doesn't it make sense that the elderly routinely require more health care dollars than others? After all, the average 25-yr old is a lot healthier and disease-free than the average 70-yr old. Richard Dooling's next book should be entitled "Life is Terminal". Having worked in healthcare (and I use the term loosely) for over 40 years, witnessing "high tech death" has been no picnic. Especially when the late 80- late 90 year old patient is in the intensive care wired to all and the "children" are calling from LA or Chicago saying "do everything"...I would like to have a handy cam to let them see what mom or dad looks like and the suffering they are enduring.
